I think events continued to happen and I would want to postpone updating the blog "until this weekend" but that never happened. We were just so busy. And that with us is a good busy- just living life!

We had a quick update this month with cardiology. Many of you know that Reagan wants to be an "echo doctor" when she grows up so she always wants to play "echo doctor" after her echo. Needless to say she is spoiled and she asks so sweetly that they all say of course! Her visit went well thank the good Lord!

<img style="cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 239px; height: 320px;" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjW26Hi9q25OPVLKz3m7ZSQpoT9eP1SoGXe7_rLwGH5kPJoiXZMzA4pQs41b1jUxFxxjbsBYwQBEKf8kTcM6QUoefjU_vBJLYg5xpLliyXU-r548hv4naIdHdtV8LuWBUpFY6Z_b_8XbWM/s320/echo3.JPG" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5616259565843012562" />

<img style="cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 239px; height: 320px;" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhvc55mKs_QV0WJQHnQfESf46sEUrwENQIj47v0bk5ZOcOFaDNMqAXnkH0r9HpnK-2LFSO03yWaVc9mU8F0SZyoWRXhQYJwY0k4vnjp_a6lo_G8U6h2bxjeglEJqtf2p6mn3TtOfeL1Gd8/s320/echo.JPG" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5616259547262049890" />

I am going backwards in events that have happened so I will try to remember them all. We just had a huge school meeting with our public school and we are going to TRY it for Reagan this year. She BEGS to go to school with Cameron and she will begin kindergarten (again) in the fall. There are so many i's to dot and t's to cross before I am comfortable and they are too but we are going to TRY. Big step for momma for sure!

Cameron finished up with second grade last week. He had an amazing year with an amazing teacher and great group of friends. We are so proud of him! He also tried out and made Academy Soccer(travel) and he is super excited to begin in August.

Back to May. Cameron had his First Communion and it was such a sweet day. Nanna and grandaddy were in town to celebrate and several aunts, uncles, and cousins joined us for a brunch that morning. Cameron did a great job and was so handsome!

<img style="cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 320px; height: 214px;" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhtk1yJpyZo3aJ3pluQfrW7PnrWEPhnz6X1sw8NyEfmztzWXkt2AiFRdshkeZcmIk8O81ksQdJFa4mru1DeSNKfNEwiIe2kcCiwy6SO3zQNAyB4M5rAhUXu6wD86xws7n34yjB6vL8mcnY/s320/IMG_9691.JPG" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5616229605050553714" />

<img style="cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 320px; height: 214px;" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgzSlJpuDV4mjpbIZr2aQuymh8J7Qag27Odpf0d4xD2Q5sMcaCUagPB6ieq1SsRYstin8Y18FdhACo3cLVoi_pHjyJ65CjecdgLCeww79TScBlTn4MKFbdlV69G-Z7xtbh5MtKqr3IEIEQ/s320/IMG_9669.JPG" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5616229596485037906" />

That same weekend was Reagan's last dance recital. Because dance gets more involved the older you are, we have decided to find new activities for next year. Any ideas? We were thinking Girl Scouts or an instrument to play. Cameron's was first. He turned 8 this year and had a low key birthday after Reagan's party. He invited a couple of friends to Frankie's Fun Park and enjoyed laser tag, rides, games, pizza, and a big soccer cookie. I can't believe that fella is 8! It makes me sad.

The next birthday was Reagan's. She had her party at Lake Murray Gymnastics AGAIN this year. She had so much fun last year she wanted everything the same. She had a Coraline party, complete with buttons to decorate the black and purple table. Will she ever get out of this black phase? It was a fun party and she couldn't stop smiling and laughing. Isn't that all that matters?? She is so happy...makes me so happy too.

<img style="cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 320px; height: 214px;" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhlVHBFTD6ijrUjXdPMrGaPOee6Qhwk0b0qB1i1Zwxfce5BmmVJ2qgvjEDW716cyZmvrzKUOcUjd_Ep_oG4yEQzyRQTqSiTKvtL3-nRnzgIqDFcgcKUFlWTkExpeRMPbkYoab043bCktDA/s320/IMG_9288.JPG" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5616259572481762530" />

<img style="cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 214px; height: 320px;" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgZtD4EXRwf6eZAzi6x1NhZBoJsvuZaJgEE4MBfoK2dmJxuiQm3khY-zSErZ4u7B_DgyEZxhTA2TZ3bgKHQZJqrLGTX_HTYGsH_hyphenhypheniLVoiCh-ozQOssKLDiLpWU8OSNNnWPxeh61rxbLKA/s320/IMG_9377.JPG" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5616259538015063474" />

The last birthday was mine- yes the big 4-0! Not as bad as I thought it might be. I don't feel old yet- no gray hairs yet either! We met friends at a small place in Ballentine to hear a friends' band. Very chill and fun.

April ended with Easter. I love Easter mornings! We started with baskets and egg hunting, lunch at mom and dad's, and family time for the rest of the day. Unfortunately, we don't usually get to enjoy church on Easter. Everyone who doesn't go to church actually goes on Easter so we try and stay away from all of the germs.

<img style="cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 320px; height: 214px;" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhDdAO3RQY1hiedpuSpNkKO0bR5Bhl8sY0xeBacpuHDmzs0nT8vCO6wDrp514A3Kd-cKSmIJt-rQu-Yk5TkzsytZRaY6F7_Du-6SEh9MDZy-dnagqXlOn9y2r2Zjlo8t7Ho7dz3XkOkBgU/s320/IMG_9424.JPG" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5616268253562522722" />
<img style="cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 214px; height: 320px;" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEj-x-xZ0f9NFtLVm5nHwjtG3nNEv2f9YI3cIpZT4nGZoEfeEoy5LUBWgOfWN9ZuK3eAUBcXwm8gyHjEY7h3czRlY8C4TIc9K0-ukaJOfuKxmKg7NMk1JwMNvBkR5gKrLj92vwtcsniutbc/s320/IMG_9411.JPG" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5616268242522445378" />
<img style="cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 320px; height: 214px;" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhTosSxFh7TA4yqxqgP_Su5tXumLVOgO0FHHsIxJt4XSOu90IYwP4FvTgtti-o-zGeofVp4bs0-jJbNM5M2nVwzKimYqrV3FNy6bEDhyM-4GvnKjkAS1JGdAvn7QvNMhjfZO7G0iJVl2O4/s320/IMG_9410.JPG" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5616268230344157666" />

We are looking forward to being lazy and enjoying summer! Her tiny baby teeth have wanted to stay too. We finally decided to have them taken out. Wednesday, we went to the dentist to get "gas", but Reagan had other ideas. She is a force to be reckonned with when she is scared (especially at the dentist). The nitrious did NOTHING for her. It was a horrible visit for her, mom, and the dentist but she did walk out with FOUR teeth out! No more two rows of teeth for her. As soon as she left, she was happy again and wanted to swing and play. Reagan has an amazing tollerance for pain- I just hate that she has to exercise that tollerance from time to time.

We leave this weekend for MUSC so she can have her yearly heart cath. This time they will not biopsy the heart only check out her heart and coronary arteries. I hate this procedure, but know it is necessary. I can't wait until it is over though! Monday afternoon can not come fast enough!

I haven't taken many pictures lately but here is one from Reagan's 100th day of school. She was very excited about this day.

<img style="cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 214px; height: 320px;" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgZjlhIC8uh9UxgMf-L_R2eMPex_uZojPW9UXsqF09SSW1CfHMOz2WyOKOh9EPCFlWsUwLxQml850OZ-RbM9L032cyFhNV4tazwBL_3iWwHQ1ZweUwmUnAjIBOyb2dx-dVswY7tY5wFigw/s320/IMG_9224.JPG" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5577573114109268338" />

I did take the video camera this week to Cameron's school for his Jump Rope for Heart Event. Reagan went with me and loved hanging with her big brother as he dedicated his jump to her. Too sweet!

Please pray that Reagan has a successful heart cath and that wonderfully beating heart is the best it can be!Kelly Potterhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/12460490764527922011noreply@blogger.com1tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8593472666629057879.post-85228020060475974732011-01-17T19:44:00.004-05:002011-01-17T20:19:01.258-05:00Pictures from Heart DayOkay, I have a few minutes to download some pictures from Heart Day. We left Friday for the Great Wolf Lodge. Uncle Paul was nice enough to stay at our house and watch Max. He had his puppy shots that morning and Reagan can not be around him for a few days because the shots he gets are live viruses.

She decked out in her heart and bones shirt (that she picked out)! We played all afternoon, then went to Carrabbas for dinner. Pizza for Reagan of course-she eats all of the cheese off of the top of the slices!

We went back to the room for cake and play time. She always gets a gift. She has been asking for a globe and has still not put it down. She even takes a nap with it!

Too funny.

There are a few pictures of Reagan at the waterpark. I couldn't catch Cameron in any pictures because he was too busy flying down the slides!

We had a great weekend!

Sorry for the long post about Heart Day- I guess I just started typing and some of the memories came out!

<img style="cursor:pointer; I have so many emotions on the day before and day of the anniversary of Reagan's heart transplant. Friday was FIVE years!!! It feels like so long ago but we can remember almost every detail.

That week was so emotional. She was fighting for her life. Before going on ECMO, Reagan's heart had given out. Heart attack maybe? They never knew. It was a long night in Greenville but with a lot of prayers, she stablized enough to get back to MUSC. After a week of tests, they still had no idea what had happened.

Another week later, which was the week of Christmas (Reagan's first), Rick asked a nurse what a machine was called (we saw another kiddo hooked up). She said that is ECMO, and you don't ever want to be on that! Well, six days and four heart-stopping episodes later (literally- I mean CPR heart stopping), Reagan's last hope was ECMO. I remember the surgeon telling us that it was not a good idea, and because she had already had her second out of three surgeries for HLHS she was "wired" differently. It made ECMO a little harder. He tried to talk us out of it. We weren't going for it! She had fought for her life and came back four times-why should we stop fighting??

The surgery itself was complex for her and they had no idea if she would make it through. Of course she did. We were so happy to have this bridge. Ecmo would then be her heart and lungs for a while.

Going home late that night was sad. Rick's mother, my mom and dad, Rick and Cameron all met back at the Pink Hotel (Meeting Street Inn). We were expecting a visitor that night, so we left the hospital. Santa was coming for a sweet little two year old boy. We had to make sure Santa could get a Thomas train table and all of the other things that Santa had made (early, thank goodness) into that hotel room. We all stayed together, read The night before Christmas, and smiled as much as we could. Both of our children were alive, so we were thankful.

It took a week of preparation for Reagan to get on to the transplant list. I was in denial! I thought that Ecmo was giving her heart a much needed rest, and everything would be okay! She went on the transplant list on New Year's Eve. She was as stable as she could be. Every few days the machine would shut down, and the nurses and doctors frantically got it working again. They told us that she couldn't last very much longer.

After 22 days on Ecmo and 14 days on the transplant list, Rick got the "talk", letting him know that it was almost time to take her off of the machine. Her arms and legs were purple/black from the lack of oxygen ans her organs were shutting down.

I woke up on Friday the 13th excited. I am not sure if God spoke to me at night, but I woke up knowing that she would get her heart that day. I was sure of it! Morning turned into afternoon, then early evening. No heart yet. We all continued to pray! Little did I know that Taylor (Reagan's nurse) was busy all day preparing for a heart that was coming!

Rick took his mom and Cameron back to the house that we were staying at for a much needed break. I stayed with Reagan while a friend visited. At 5:20 on the 13th, all 4 of her doctors walked in and stared at me. I looked up at the monitor that I had been watching, knowing that nothing had changed. I looked back at them and begged for no more bad news. I remember the words

IT IS TIME!!!!!!

Time, I asked- time for what? Umm, come on Kelly- what have we been waiting for????
Whew! I could not screaming, crying, who knows!!! I said a quick prayer, ran to Reagan and told her that her new heart was here, and called Rick. After freaking him out he hopped in the car and the three of them flew across the "big bridge" as fast as they could! Talk about emotional!!!

The heart was offered to a child in Alabama first, but the surgeon was not available. It was destined for Reagan. After flying through tornados and bad thunderstorms, the heart arrived at 1am from Orlando.

It took around 20 people to walk her and all of her machines to the Operating Room.

The surgery started at 2am. Dr. Bradley had to "rewire" her back to the original state after taking out the old heart which took some time. Eleven hours later, the new heart was beating inside of her and she was done!

Well, not really done. Because she had been so sick, all of her organs took a really big hit. The day after surgery, two nurses and a doctor did not leave her beside for 7 more hours. They worked frantically to play catchup. They even brought us in at one point to give Reagan a pep talk. They asked us to let her know that this was it- she needed to fight as hard as she could. After that, the panic slowed and things started to calm.

It was three more months before she got out of the PCICU. LOTS and LOTS of issues had to be resolved.

I remember two weeks after the transplant and Cameron came into her room for a visit. SHE SMILED AT HIM! I knew then that everything would be okay.
Our lives have been taken on a different path. Our normal is not anyone else's normal. We are okay with that. We are so lucky to be alive-all four of us- and together.

GOD IS GOOD!

As for the 5th Heart Day celebration, it was amazing. We went to the Great Wolf lodge and the kids were in heaven. We were too. We had so much fun at the water parks, out to dinner, and having cake! We are so thankful to God that we can celebrate every heart birthday.

There are so many people that are on this journey with us and we are thankful. Friends, family, nurses, doctors, even people we don't know have been praying and still are.

We are thankful to Reagan's donor family. They gave us all our Reagan and they gave her life! I write letters to them at least 2 times a year, if not more. I have not heard from them but I will continue and maybe one day they will respond. If not, that is okay too.

Just a question, are you a donor??? Please consider. It really does save lives. IF you have not gotten onto the donor registy, please go to www.donatelifesc.org or www.every11minutes.org. You can register there and even see a picture of my hero- Reagan Michelle Potter!

Pictures to come, I promise!Kelly Potterhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/12460490764527922011noreply@blogger.com3tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8593472666629057879.post-52322902051550988862011-01-04T02:42:00.011-05:002011-01-04T03:30:24.341-05:00Happy Birthday, Happy New Year, Happy Christmas- HAPPY!Whew, is it just me or did Christmas just FLY by? I can't believe that the children are back in school!

Yesterday was Rick's birthday. Happy Birthday to my best friend- a great husband and father!

New Year's Eve was quiet and fun. We watched the football game and a neighbor's house, enjoyed a few kid-friendly fireworks, and the four of us enjoyed an intense game of Headbands. Okay, not really intense but fun. It is a kid's game- you wear a band around your forehead with a card on it that you can not see. Then you ask questions to everyone to try and figure out what you are (a carrot, bed, shoe, cat). The children had a blast and we did too. Reagan was determined to stay up until midnight, and she did! Cameron crashed as soon as the ball dropped, but Reagan kept going for another half hour. Yes, I do let my children stay up that late on New Year's Eve! Bad parent, I know. But if you have not enjoyed ice cream sundaes at midnight, you should try it. Once a year is fun!

Christmas-

We had such a great Christmas this year. This was the second Christmas out of SIX that Reagan was NOT sick!!! She really enjoyed opening presents this year. After all of Santa's presents were opened and enjoyed, Rick snuck out to pick up our gift to the children- A new puppy! I think Cameron almost passed out when he saw this little fella. Max the puppy was adopted from a shelter in Orangeburg. He was rescued in November from a trashcan! He is the sweetest little thing and we are glad to welcome our new addition! A quote from Cameron "Mom, I can't even explain how my heart feels-it is so full!" Too sweet. Reagan likes him, mostly from a distance, but she will talk to him from time to time and even held him yesterday. She is not a dog lover, but she really is warming up to Max.

<img style="cursor:pointer; Tomorrow is December?? That is so hard to believe!

We have had a fun few weeks although Reagan did get her first stomach bug two weeks ago. It took her a long time to get over it, but she is such a trooper. I have never loved that g-tube more! Maybe we will just keep it forever. NOT! It was helpful with the tummy pains and keeping her hydrated as well.

Thanksgiving was fun and different. We decided to visit my family on Friday this year and on Wednesday joined some of Rick's sisters and their families- CAMPING! No tents involved, only campers. It was a lot of fun with the kids. We played in the hammock, rode bikes, and went on hikes. We even roasted a 22 pound turkey and had the normal Thanksgiving dinner- delicious!

<img style="cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 320px; height: 214px;" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhKcLGKBqdhmOmOk99aO4pZ9U2KM6hOSpR23KAB5UrnWjqOOO2Up_AmmSEdPrdgeaSxupHiPv2FtdIDhU9lFgv-_NsN3XEyabgFuDznEqVqOx8ZGn7zx0Zd3aQzraUYh6QjGH-_DAK9K2Q/s320/IMG_8730.JPG" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5545362788136755298" />
<img style="cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 320px; height: 214px;" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiAjpk7JBhLEnX9ME3LR-Oosoi42-ZLgPV1XdCtfqJDZx9bpI335aZOnNpC8vX-ycN56CRNm-RClyVPRzolpmRJjXuWeSPiZvstngmnx9C32M2Yar9IBi65H2Fgpj3wZX26xrjt9QrqbV0/s320/IMG_8727.JPG" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5545362782110237090" />
<img style="cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 320px; height: 214px;" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhkptpeyOssNQYML1lEC5yOpAPETnGunkC49piDRfd5bo7_Ye2JcyH8E10GF6ds3LfT6wbET-8wqizU7DhTxf_XNK0LP3vH_OCT1jMGTh7V-FUlB6x4bjIlIsQ0dTjJnPfsSuhRM0vJ0hM/s320/IMG_8721.JPG" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5545362776762361106" />
<img style="cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 320px; height: 214px;" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjY-OP0l9j8vx89a6JDRHzGBzRlCqmgLHu2oAqd6OOdFhEZIX8X3F1NlN7dN3e3hfECXVVIb2Kr-CJ0aXNOr8oXeKxSomGlLBzk0iBGraYverkqyKEuZHzNHxlzcp1uuAfb2mCEAVBJMhQ/s320/IMG_8709.JPG" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5545361058517865330" />
<img style="cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 320px; height: 214px;" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEi1EvfGrlQn4KbF5RyvMPFsx_aCmcJHqgwJW8PxMCpTkfjZCSPzFO147fa-gUvkLCki0qi0RXwtZdVhUsJCsDU5a3U-C69lvcrbgp41_sJo6j9A5XushLcOGBdZHXKyFP7bcE77h3M40Sw/s320/IMG_8698.JPG" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5545361052713054338" />
<img style="cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 320px; height: 214px;" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgNbsBqo0VXz58ETD-pVd8iUf90GD7oKvCD8CO8yr4ZtUlJMHZmWH9LdeXnbpHikFUM8blYBRdE5Ioi9uQceSxQ-dqIqdu4DYaKjowkm-gztG2LAs5ma-VQaautqyiOky3CnTQT6Nrt-8A/s320/IMG_8678.JPG" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5545361051045212210" />

Here are a few pictures of my little Diva. The first fall/Halloween activity was Reagan's fall party at school. She is the Hostess of the class, or so she thinks! She wants everyone to enjoy themselves, and even went around to some of her classmates asking if they enjoyed their snacks! Learning is not on her short list of important things to do. Having fun- number one! That is SO okay with me.

<img style="cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 320px; height: 214px;" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEj3pc8hfAmz0xF9TF3FDuTVngcZGqYJ7SFUKUoyen-DF9udkKleYlww2J9KUBMeH15maDENQonEWURYHwckrQmkW4tyLb0w8Jb1_YjEli-AX_VXEyJEAINdoXILmf_lbO_LXWudH-eml0c/s320/IMG_8490.JPG" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5536003422791950962" />
<img style="cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 320px; height: 214px;" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEi6aGxqK341aGWfcBLpm5HCABB2-2OjJjQs2V184xsDTrS1f8X5zzSyHXAbPQaevW35LTrwI7_1mxEx6eu8Mr2zaQWqSlXsC7Xwnd81xyLVW13hLaw906oG6UJ_T09MeZfLSMz0oywdq_g/s320/IMG_8483.JPG" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5536003420722022114" />
<img style="cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 320px; height: 214px;" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhJrGS8W8b-zIpLuEpLpEpPtMG9Z1MyCHXi8O_i02V6e35jDYKAYmnrgbdRlYeVzdWlPWuWg3srlOSv6b-VWTAwuk8JF4pzt8pTxuc0iIPiMhoBOiR2VK0sDTeYT1-iHH7HleDW3GKOmto/s320/IMG_8480.JPG" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5535999527502192754" />

Here is a picture of Cameron and his buddy Walker on his Camp Out day. Cameron has been asking to have a scary costume since he was two. I put it off long enough. He was so excited and is already planning next year's costume. Reagan was not really into trick-or-treating this year. She was until she actually had to walk up and down stairs, and say the magic words. She was not a fan. She wanted her stroller and then wanted to go back home and play. Cameron always asks his nanna to read to him at night. This time, he picks an old thesaurus. Nanna asks if he even knows what one is. Well of course he tells her exactly what it is. He thoroughly enjoys learning!

<img style="cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 320px; height: 240px;" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEi6NZUcbfs8COYGEtZH2NmkzUaBnH3gERcwQZuS1ya-7Qo9-7HR2UlS4El8DzqI1AaZ6ZlpccA3kwXa1w7PlMay-mmPQ5W_oNPlrm9SrcUMWkpJYcZIG6lvrhCRS8MIYFFVVmo230pg9uA/s320/IMG00490.jpg" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5529697985157986642" />

Another story:

While listening from inside the house, I overheard a deep conversation that my children were having. They were swinging, and Reagan asks Cameron a few questions about God. Here is how the conversation went:

R- Is God always with us Cameron?
C- Yes.
R- Why?
C- Because we are Christians.
R- No, we are Carolinas.
C- No, we are Christians!
R- What are Christians?
C- That means we believe in Jesus and love Him and God.
R- Ooh, I do love them. Especially Jesus, he died for us.
C- Yeah, me too.

Don't ya love it!Kelly Potterhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/12460490764527922011noreply@blogger.com3tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8593472666629057879.post-20739052603556117032010-10-12T05:28:00.004-04:002010-10-12T05:42:39.600-04:00Absolutely nothing to post!God is good! When I can honestly say I have nothing to post, that really means life is as "regular" as it gets!

Labs- two good levels, two weeks in a row.

Meds- so far so good. Still praying that the azithromax will keep the sickness away for a while.

School- fun and great reports. Reagan will have her first kindergarten play date Friday and she is super excited. Cam stayed out Friday because there was a crazy stomach bug going around. NINE children in his classroom got it! We "skipped" school and had a fun day together. And no stomach bug to boot!

Rick- about to start working lots of hours for the next few weeks so we will be missing him.

Me- working a few hours, starting back with Family Connection of SC, and volunteering with Donate Life/LifePoint this week. And always busy making everyone's life easier. Isn't that what all moms do??

Everthing else is great too- speech, soccer, dance, CCD/church, life. I always know that anything can happen, especially with little Missy. But for today, we are "normal."

We couldn't be happier.Kelly Potterhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/12460490764527922011noreply@blogger.com4tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8593472666629057879.post-12488134487997107642010-10-01T09:27:00.003-04:002010-10-01T09:35:39.349-04:00Who picks black????At school, Reagan was asked to wear her favorite color today. Now, most every girl would pick pink. Usually a given. Even Reagan loves pink and purple but if you ask her what her favorite color is, hands down every time it will be black!

Who picks black??? I know she does not like it for its slimming feature! She even wanted to paint her walls black but settled for pink and purple.

She is so funny, you never know what she is thinking!

Happy Friday everyone!

A picture from my phone. While I love the crispness that fall brings (at some point), the fun fall activities, the awesome holidays that winter has, and even the occasional snow fall, I really dread the sickness that comes. I actually feel like I just hold my breath and wait for summer to come again.

But not my children, especially Reagan for some reason. Maybe they were talking about it in school? She has been asking every day if it is fall yet. Finally, we googled it because I knew that it was coming up but it was not on my calendar. I told her that it was the first official day of Fall on Tuesday. Yesterday we picked Cameron up from school and immediately started homework. We had opened the windows in the dining room and Reagan began to scoot a heavy chair across the floor. She pushed it all the way to the window, climbed up like she was on a mission, and propped her feet up on the window sill. Cameron and I looked at each other and laughed. When we asked her what she was doing, she leaned up and said

"Mom, it's fall. I am watching the leaves fall to the ground!"

No cares, especially that there were no leaves falling (okay one or two maybe)or that it was 98 degrees.

She sat there and watched for a long while, smiling the whole time.

Maybe Fall is not so bad after all, not yet. It sure made her happy!

<img style="cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 320px; height: 214px;" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhVGOCdookE66ZHEyV4ZbB_ObRh-Ews3T-cFcb5-5H7Ae6FV9M5_AYT4czDL9IEcChksBowkJCEUdiuYGiTx01f4tbrF9eiajO7wiOoK7NvDm6LWRbn1gUJzBttjyBrHCGuylBdwH4qEn0/s320/IMG_8302.JPG" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5520410986962486034" />
<img style="cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 320px; height: 214px;" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhEHm4NBmx6FVHqzCPlHN_TEbHSIuQHTYkbC833JUkCvDz-kGdLQCuDCYyWJIFJToRAeLiqFyByMGm42TOsa7Xcr72xkV1xCjcgsrZjlE3egSNP32OtUOeAaCErUC9Lwv2AdqyuVAyhft4/s320/IMG_8297.JPG" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5520410981409023570" />Kelly Potterhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/12460490764527922011noreply@blogger.com2tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8593472666629057879.post-86472953445996084972010-09-15T16:35:00.006-04:002010-09-15T16:52:01.451-04:00Only 14 hours of school and then...SICK! I Really thought that she would make it further into the year, maybe even the whole week. I don't even think that anyone has been sick in her class yet, but who knows where she got it from.She spiked a fever on Thursday night so we went to our favorite pediatrician the next morning. I don't think that we have been into the office for a sick visit for two WHOLE months (maybe a record). Another reason I love summer.

She was mad because she could not go to school on Friday. She even asked if she could go to school and not touch anyone and wash her hands a lot. She is too smart! Dr. Todd could not find anything wrong, so we must have caught something in the early brewing stages. A few spikes later, and we started the antibiotic. We have started discussions about how to deal with sickness this winter. Hopefully we can come with something new that can keep her in school a little longer than 10 hours!

Saturday afternoon she was feeling much better. Needless to say our anniversary plans turned into a fun night at home. 9/11 was our TEN year anniversary! The children helped me find old pics of their mom and dad together while Rick worked all day. They made signs for the "restaurant" that was at our house. The restaurant was named TEN. They also made menus and were our waiter and waitress for the night. Still a night to remember, we all enjoyed it.

This past week Reagan started dance class again. She was so excited to see her same teacher and couldn't wait to go back again today.

Cameron is enjoying second grade and starts soccer with practice tomorrow. He is REALLY excited about it this year!

I will post pics later, when I have a little more time. We were at the beach house for Labor Day and took some family pictures.Kelly Potterhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/12460490764527922011noreply@blogger.com3tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8593472666629057879.post-30987103631122056582010-09-02T06:07:00.007-04:002010-09-10T09:38:35.337-04:00First Day of Kindergarten- Let the Tears Roll!I really thought that I was nothing more than excited for Reagan to attend her sweet little kindergarten class. I have not shed a tear, okay until Monday.

Monday was Parent/Teacher night- no kiddos. Rick stayed home with the kids and I attended. The teacher was going over the handbook and we got to the "sick" section. You know, don't bring your kids to school with....

Then she looks at me and asks if I will share a few words. I started out by saying my name, my daughter's name, and then LOST IT! Yes, tears flowing! Embarrassing!!! I did manage to pull it together (a little) enough to finish a quick story. A few parents came up to me laughing, telling me they had been crying all afternoon about their child starting school, with no problems at all.

I guess that I had suppressed feelings about my baby starting school, to say the least. Not that I am sad about her growing up, well not totally. I think I always knew that she would get her new heart, I just never pictured anything else in the future. I never let myself plan for the future, not even buy clothes for next season. It felt like I was being presumptuous. We all just live happily in the moment. And look where we are- THE FUTURE! I am so proud of her and the things that she has accomplished. We are so happy that she is so happy.

Yesterday was open house. Rick and I attended with Reagan to officially meet the teachers. She was so excited during her scavenger hunt and playing in the new room. She saw pictures of herself everywhere and really liked it.

She is beginning to enjoy learning. She wants to sound out almost every word now and asks what letter it starts with. She gets it right most of the time!

Today is the first official day of school for her. She will only be there for 2 hours. I will download pictures later today.

Wish her luck today! I don't think that she will need it though! Me on the other hand...Ugh! Of course, we can't have a typical week leading up to the first day!

Cameron, did have a normal start and is in the swing of things. He really likes his new teacher and classmates. He knew all of them and a few are his really good friends. He is excited about the math that she has planned for them!

Last week, Reagan had her yearly transplant visit. While everything looked great, her labs that measure the rejection meds that she takes were very low. I was nervous because the labs had not been checked in a month so there is no way to tell how long it was that low. When the levels are low, the body will start to notice the foreign heart and start attacking it. We bumped up her meds and rechecked on Friday, and they went even lower! Needless to say, I was a nervous nelly this weekend! The last time she was that low was right after transplant when she started to reject. Moms remember numbers, especially important ones even if it was four years ago! So we gave her a larger dose, and Monday the labs seemed to be much better. We will recheck again this Thursday to see if they stay in the range that we like.

Really, HLHS (syndrome with her old heart) has it's own problems, but transplant is an entirely different set of problems. It is nice for me that we have to keep a closer check than we did with the old heart. I got a little too comfortable after that second surgery when she was a baby. Transplant- no- never comfortable but totally okay where we are.

School was the last thing on our minds Monday, but it was time to register for kindergarten. Reagan went with me to get registered and we were able to see her new teacher. She seems like a sweet woman that will love my baby! Reagan was very comfortable there and I am sure she will love it. She started to play with a group of girls while I filled out paperwork. I looked up a few minutes later, and she had them following her leading a game of follow the leader. Then she started crawling and they copied! It was a funny sight. Yes, I think she will be just fine next week.

She started speech again today. We have not been since November. I guess after years of therapy, both mom and child were tired. She had an evaluation and did really well. In fact, we may focus on speech a little less and more on eating issues. It is time for her to get some tough love and hopefully they can help nudge her. She is scared to swallow most foods. She is tasting new foodsso much more now, and even knows when she is hungry.

I guess all in all it has been a good but busy week. I guess when soccer and dance start, it will be even busier! I am not complaining. I love that they are healthy enough to do the things that they do. Me, hum, I guess I can rest sometime!

Hope everyone enjoys the week!Kelly Potterhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/12460490764527922011noreply@blogger.com3tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8593472666629057879.post-19515850844789626642010-08-15T09:41:00.005-04:002010-08-15T10:46:37.790-04:00Ahh...the last days of summer breakIt's a little sad to know this weekend is the last one before school begins.

Cameron registered for school on Friday and was excited about his teacher. He is in the second grade AGP class! I am very proud of that smart little boy!

Reagan will register next week. She will not go to Ballentine Elementary like her brother. There are was too many children for her immune system to handle. She will go to Union United Methodist this year in their 5 year old kindergarten class. It seems like it will be a sweet class of only 12 children. Can you believe it-kindergarten? Wow, who would have thought? It seems only yesterday.....

This morning, we woke up to a nice summer rain. I think that it rained hard for at least 30 minutes. For those of us in Ballentine, that is a really long time because it never rains here! I asked the children if they wanted to go out and play in the rain and they just stared at me! Really mom, in our pj's? Why not? So we all ran out at 8 o'clock in the morning and played tag, soccer, and just laughed. It was so much fun! Gotta love a summertime rain!

This week we will go back to Charleston for Reagan's yearly transplant cardiology visit and a follow up. I will update when we return.

Hope everyone enjoys the last few days of your summer break. Go out and do something fun!Kelly Potterhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/12460490764527922011noreply@blogger.com3tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8593472666629057879.post-87342623201341940002010-08-05T06:04:00.006-04:002010-08-05T06:37:27.267-04:00Big Strides.....in the Pool!Those of you that know Reagan well know that she is Perfectly happy playing on the stairs at the pool. She brings her barbie dolls and teacups and loves it. When I would try and take her in the water, she would have a tight grip with her legs and arms wrapped tightly around my body. She stopped crying when we would get in the water, but the death grip was there.

Last week, Cameron spent a few days at Nanna's and Grandadddy's. He loved it! He loves them and loves having his freedom there- candy too! Nanna taught him how to text so I received lots of fun text messages. I missed my little fella!

Anyway, back to the story. We went to Spartanburg on Friday to pick him up. It was Reagan's first day to swim since her last surgery, because she had to wait 10 days. She was SO ready to swim at Nanna's. Her cousin Katie was there too. Katie became a little fish this summer, and does not use her floats anymore. I decided to try Reagan in it- I could tell she was feeling a little brave that day. She not only got in the float, but also held only one of my fingers the whole time. She loved it! I was so proud because she was so proud.

She wanted to show off her skills to Rick yesterday so we took her to our community pool. Dad taught her that she was tall enough now to stand in the shallow end and she was so excited. She was showing all the kids at the pool her "cool trick." Of course, they just looked confused, but it was so big to her.

We are so lucky that God let her stay with us. We are so blessed to watch her grow up- Cameron too! I think every parent will agree it is so bittersweet!

If we go to the pool today, I will take the camera so you all can see her Cool Trick!Kelly Potterhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/12460490764527922011noreply@blogger.com2tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8593472666629057879.post-3861173556334025192010-07-20T17:25:00.004-04:002010-07-20T17:41:21.459-04:00Can't keep a strong girl down!<img style="cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 320px; height: 240px;" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEg0Dv7anDaKaaMd0l4u5Y_uJ1pvCH1KB0xor_esSlv9qQZV10VxaI1SKI7jtFUNU6NClkzW3yXhuKyDAW9EBHM9nHaFiqcZ-VugTP97tmoyy7jaN3KFkEjCHocZoYvB0JkSzUNRbMblBh8/s320/IMG00343.jpg" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5496105627955843874" />
So we are home. The surgery was quick and successful. No cast this time, only bandages. The screw seemed to want to be out as well. It looked like it had back up into the top of her foot, and was protruding a little through the skin. It was a hardware-looking screw, about an 1-1/2 inches long. Yes- Yuck! They cleaned it up and let her take it home.

Because she seems to get pneumonia or lung infections of some sort after being intubated, and since the procedure was a quick one, it was decided that they would "mask her" and keep her airway open, instead of the long tube down the throat. I was elated to hear this. Her lungs are already not the best, but after surgeries they are terrible.

She woke up quicker, in a better mood, and it was great! She slept the whole way home and then rested an hour or two on the couch. She decided to scoot on the ground while wide awake, then hopped into her car-de-car (as she calls a little push car that she can't seem to part with). A few minutes later, she hops out of car-de-car and starts walking.

I am amazed.

Guess what she says?????

AHHHHHHHHH, that feels sooooooooo much better without the screw!

That girl! We could all take lessons about the little pains in our own life- just deal with it and keep on playing!

Thanks for the prayers!Kelly Potterhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/12460490764527922011noreply@blogger.com1tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8593472666629057879.post-22711590968604553482010-07-18T08:13:00.004-04:002010-07-18T08:32:27.148-04:00Last surgery of the summer??Reagan's last surgery on her feet (for a while) will be on Tuesday. The surgeon is ready to take the screw out of her right foot. It has only been in for 2 months, but he did not want it in any longer.

I know SHE knows that it is coming out this week and she is glad. She favors the foot as she walks and says she can feel it. Gotta be a yucky feeling. However, she does not know that she will have to be put on the ventilator again. She will not be happy. It should be a quick procedure and, if everything goes well, we will be home the same afternoon.

Luckily, she can easily adapt to situations that are unpleasant. I hate that she has had to endure so much. Let's don't even go there. It is not for us to question why God allows others to endure more than most. We just have to be glad that HE is there to help us through things. I know I am glad. And we sure are glad that she is here too. It helps that almost every minute of her life is pure happiness. She is happy to be here- you can feel it.

I hope everyone continues to enjoy what is left of the summer! It sure is going by fast!Kelly Potterhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/12460490764527922011noreply@blogger.com2tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8593472666629057879.post-56774804307315473642010-07-10T14:03:00.011-04:002010-07-11T07:05:28.320-04:00Loving SummerReagan is finally walking again, with a little hesitation, so we are catching up on our summer fun.
I do catch Cameron on camera -not very often- helping his little sister. They were playing in the sprinkler, and she asked him to help her walk. He grabbed her hand and didn't say a thing.
<img style="cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 320px; height: 214px;" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgQ1Qddsm83C4fd2e1BcvR1DyEqfCAXwEumfi8n2tqZrmAIWfOggEYjm6avoLauF6HdXFx1BilwaagySmxxnjBKcTyA7D4dAib3mZNiHXrRw8fkxapIb3WKr3oAifXdRqu0vbXhFSpqiaY/s320/IMG_7765.JPG" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5492348179482352498" />

We enjoyed the beach last week with my family. The children had a blast! My little girl is growing up. She talked about riding the small rides in Myrtle Beach at Broadway. She asked if she could get on the rides with Cameron and Katie (her cousin)- NO ADULTS! It makes me happy for her but sad for me! I was scared but he had a blast. We had video of Cameron in the ball, and the only thing we heard was a quiet voice begging to do it too. You guessed it- Reagan! I guess she had gotten into her "no fear" mode and wanted to do it too. Of course, mom heeded the warnings regarding heart and lung conditions. No way will I send my tiny one out there. I didn't even want Cameron out there but Rick overruled me on that one. Okay, maybe I am a little TOO cautious. Is there really such a thing?!?!
<img style="cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 320px; height: 214px;" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgOq9uW1ijKFG6-XhnwK-P3gyVzheyPaofgwX8VaNOWPWTkiHaQvOaD-aFbbJxTR448CYWEuh2BgU1BIV-5_X6blhLmnJbkU7hZatCy5ESt_Zq851Pa8beSqgt2UzZMNTAWt16uwQLzqac/s320/IMG_7936.JPG" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5492345897628705938" />
<img style="cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 320px; height: 214px;" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgmkC43t2-y083M2G3_4e0P5wXJ4OF55vfV-Mr_D7CUaKLL2CAsRm3mzYuBvh1xshYCJDFWSXyGSySztbSf8HSyJQ72Ut9VdpFYUWu5UmNxe5lraW7JuPYootCNuu8ulOIJ1BX2AqBl-ws/s320/IMG_7934.JPG" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5492345887616105330" />

The Fourth of July was fun too. I took the children to my parent's house on Friday. I got to celebrate my brother's birthday that day. Saturday, my brother and sister and their families came over to my parent's house to swim. We had a cookout and started Father's Day a little early. I have the greatest dad. He is such a kind, gentle, giving person. I am lucky to have him!
We came back Saturday evening to make our plans for Rick's Father's Day. He truly is a wonderful father to my children and loves them so much. I love that he can not get enough of them, and they love to spend time with him too. We made breakfast for him, watched soccer, played games, went swimming, and grilled his favorite-cowboys. That is what his favorite steak is called (bone-in ribeye). It was yummy! What a fun day.

Last week, Reagan got another double lung infection. She sounds a little better this week, and is feeling completely normal. She is her happy self! She is walking a little more, but the right foot is still sore from surgery. The plan for her upcoming surgery in July is to take the screw out of her ankle. We hope that this won't effect her walking but only a few days. She does miss running and being so independent. As for me, my back really hurts! It's not too bad, I would do it forever if I needed too!Kelly Potterhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/12460490764527922011noreply@blogger.com2tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8593472666629057879.post-51880067164367488612010-06-10T05:36:00.002-04:002010-06-10T05:49:29.876-04:00IOP, here we come!I am up early this morning-okay who am I kidding. I am an early bird and always up this early! I am making our checklist so we can go to the beach today! For those of you that really know me, you know that I am addicted to making lists!

Reagan has been asking to go the beach after her casts were off. So we are off to Wild Dunes to the beach house this morning. They are so excited! I LOVE to hit the beach with my children. It is pure bliss to hear their laughter over the calm sounds of the waves. I could sit there all day! Cameron loves the water and the sand. He loves wave riding the most. Reagan loves sitting at the edge of the water and waiting for it to roll over her. She loves to dig holes to put her tiny feet in.

Okay, I am getting excited too!

We hate that dad can not make it this time, but can't wait to go again with him. He is fun to go to the beach with. I love it when Rick is so relaxed!

I'll post pictures when we get home Sunday. Hope everyone enjoys the rest of the week!Kelly Potterhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/12460490764527922011noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8593472666629057879.post-36366085805033203362010-06-03T15:58:00.007-04:002010-06-04T15:27:32.364-04:00A long week....but a good one!This past week has been a long one. We were able to get Reagan's pain under control, but it took a few days. After 100's of bad nightmares and lots of pain, she got a stronger medication two days after the surgery. When we gave her "the big guns", she was okay after 30 minutes. I could tell as soon as it hit. She looked around at all three of us and said "Okay, who wants to tell me a knock knock joke?" We knew she would be okay. I guess these heart kiddos have had so much medication, it takes a lot for them to be okay. She was then able to enjoy rolling around and being pushed in her wheelchair by her brother. We put the laptop in a spot that fit her tiny wheelchair perfectly. She has learned to play lots of games this week!

We were in Charleston on Wednesday for a followup appointment. I was excited that they took the casts off of her hands and feet. She hated the machine that did it and screamed the entire time. As soon as it was over, she stopped. Her sites were healing well so that was good news. Today she has practiced standing on her own when we are not looking. I am sure the feet hurt, but I really don't think that she will be on the ground for very long. She likes to go too much!

That is the reason for the title. She likes to go and has had no way to go. I feel as if I have lived two lives for the past week- exhausting! She was a busy beaver after she started to feel better. Not that I am complaining!

Wednesday was Cameron's last day at school. Rick stayed at home with him while the girls left for Charleston. This was a last minute decision to ditch us for the pool, a son/dad soccer match, and Frankie's Fun Park. Who wouldn't want to stay at home with all of that fun? Glad the boys enjoyed the first day of summer vacation! He really deserved it. Cameron is a great student that has learned so much this year. I can't believe that I now have a rising second grader!

I can't even begin to think about having a rising kindergartner too! I need to change the subject before I start crying!Anyway, we are looking forward to summer. Pool mornings, nap afternoons! Throw in VBS, a few beach trips, and we are happy!

Hope everyone is enjoying the week too!
<img style="cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 320px; height: 214px;" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgXOApJx_sOisyutdPA49CCwcJExfzNPYGUs13H4Y8XxwBn6rDt0vfNmf4U27D4PUiXSb1CiUwL8Hge1sF-T9dBUgsU01JoF0hCUoUsbmdT7yIFW-TOzB_VAjQakDSW91KJ9m7E4y0tg6E/s320/IMG_7598.JPG" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5478999908494605554" />
<img style="cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 320px; height: 214px;" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEirR3oEZhIIE8QQC35QiVgKZICSV3W5cNsxc4MraIhjLhtNVbORnNlLCr9hiOgA4nRW0Tgkd_b0mvaVV7B8pJ7lz4w2Oe7eBnAvbmoladS5Fod5bsfQJNgKsJhgGwYTJmFaMv1yr0YzhRM/s320/IMG_7597.JPG" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5478999895697676498" />
<img style="cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 214px; height: 320px;" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgWpt1bl5DdMn7UoLJp-epZ7aUZKqMXZgFAIljb2NDXm4SC6lur3Lb6BESrZ0o5vZxRsz0UHyvn-jw8RAcM4Exs0Tny5q_6iiewgs32xrUMwjewJKRxhkESuzoJt5yCmvHXmxyXddXPS0Y/s320/IMG_7595.JPG" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5478999875918978194" />
<img style="cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 214px; height: 320px;" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhsBOcKbmuVmqyTU1w_5q2fAxDhQyEg3y-M5NUDhlGBGAusCpj2h3eh-ir8XKrtgVU9NeEZFNXErxEArDFbuh33zZC6RPlVWqs9jGcaVP1HAt6l8bNMUUGCJ1OUb5QC8MkDKL8-ao0dJCI/s320/IMG_7601.JPG" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5478999859608471954" />Kelly Potterhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/12460490764527922011noreply@blogger.com1tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8593472666629057879.post-35394470363294845682010-05-24T16:41:00.006-04:002010-05-24T19:49:04.335-04:00Glad THAT is over...So, we are home. That means that Reagan's surgery was quick and successful this morning. We started the day at the hospital at 5:30am. Well, I started my day at 3am because I HATE the night before surgery. I am so stressed out at the possibilities. What if? I decided to be positive and get up and pack up our things in hopes that we would be able to leave today with both of our babies. I guess that positive attitude and a lot of praying worked. She is totally remembering more each time she goes back and my heart breaks. She asked a nurse if they were going to mask her before they let her take a nap. She told them that she did not like it! We have never even talked about that so I was shocked when she asked them. After the procedure, she came back with a pink cast on her arm and a purple one on her leg. Very stylish! She has had bad dreams most of the day. She was in a lot of pain earlier, but we are trying to get in front of that with medicine. I am so thankful for the prayers. We are so happy to have this procedure behind us.

Recital news:
She had such a great time at the recital! She is such a little ham and we all enjoyed watching such a brave little girl overcome so many obstacles and just have fun dancing! I think most of us cried the entire time she was on stage. Lots of memories rushed through my mind while she was up there. I do love her so much.

Cam news:
Can't forget my favorite little man! He has been a really good big brother throughout all of this. He even enjoyed the recital a little too!

Last week, he had a slice of watermelon in his lunchbox (his favorite). He ran outside after he got home from school to plant seed that he saved. He took care of his little seed with TLC and water. The second day, I saw him outside pondering something. He came inside to ask a question.
Cam- "Mom, do you think we could get even more seeds, maybe from different vegetables and fruits?"
Me- "Yes son, why?"
Cam- "I think that I will make a garden and plant a lot of fruits and vegetables."
Me- "That sounds like fun."
Cam- "Can you find a place to take them so we can give our food that we grow to people that don't have any food?"
Me- "Yes son, I think we can do that for sure."

Wow- I really love my children. Rick and I are so very blessed.Kelly Potterhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/12460490764527922011noreply@blogger.com1
